Job opportunity: Challenge Manager (0.5 FTE)
Looking for an exciting opportunity to apply your scientific background and management abilities to a critical environmental science challenge facing the nation?
- Based at NIWA on Wellington's waterfront
- Part-time (20 hours per week), 15-month fixed term
The Challenge Manager’s role has an operations management focus, and is the critical interface for the different groups that contribute to the Challenge. An ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders and draw agencies and disciplines together to achieve desired outcomes is crucial. You will provide essential coordination, administration, communication and documentation support for the Challenge Director, the Science Leadership Team, and the Challenge Board Chair.
Based at NIWA's Wellington office, you will be working alongside a wide range of researchers and the Challenge Director.
You will have a post-graduate research degree or equivalent experience in a relevant area of environmental science, and a strong track record and credentials in science project management.
Previous success in working with key stakeholders in a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency context to deliver complex programmes will be an advantage.
Your positive, constructive and collaborative approach will have resulted in strong professional networks and relationships that you can draw upon. Your willingness to roll up your sleeves and take on whatever is required to get the job done alongside others will stand you in good stead. A high energy level combined with excellent planning, organising and execution is required.
