We’re looking for an all-rounder who will thrive in a varied communications role.

- Based at NIWA Wellington (Evans Bay)
We need a strong writer and content creator, with digital and social media experience, who is willing to get stuck in as needed with things like media, organising filming, events, and webinars.
You'll work closely with the Communications Manager, Communications Advisor - Māori, Engagement Team, and small management team, and also be responsible for developing, delivering and evaluating specific projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to apply your communication and outreach skills to a critical environmental and societal challenge facing the nation.
You will have relevant tertiary qualifications plus at least 2 years' professional communications experience, or equivalent industry experience. You will have social media experience and have delivered successful communications activities for large organisations, be an excellent writer and able to communicate with a wide range of audiences using a variety of channels (including website, multimedia, newsletter, webinars, conferences, and events). Experience working within the research/government sector would be an advantage.
The Sustainable Seas National Science Challenge is a government-funded, multi-disciplinary and multi-agency research programme, funded until 30 June 2024. Our vision is that Aotearoa has healthy marine environments that provide value for every New Zealander.
Our research brings together ecologists, biophysical scientists, social scientists, economists, and experts in mātauranga Māori and policy from across Aotearoa New Zealand. We are funded by MBIE and hosted by NIWA.
