Do you have science communication skills and at least 2 years experience? Do you care about Aotearoa's oceans and how people use/value our seas? Then we've got a job for you.
We're looking for an all-rounder who will thrive in a varied sci-comm role. We need a strong writer and content creator, ideally with media relations and digital/social media experience, who is willing to get stuck in to help out as needed with things like organising filming, events and webinars.
You'll work closely with the Communications Manager and small management team, but also be responsible for developing, delivering and evaluating specific projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to apply your communication and outreach skills to a critical environmental science challenge facing the nation, supporting our vision that Aotearoa has healthy marine environments that provide value for every New Zealander.
You will have relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry experience. You will have delivered successful communications activities - including events - for large organisations, be an excellent writer and able to communicate with a wide range of audiences using a variety of channels. Experience working within the science/government sector would be an advantage.
Fixed term to June 2024, full-time.
Based at NIWA Wellington (Evans Bay)
