Nature risks and opportunities in Hawke’s Bay

This report is designed to gather insights and contribute to integrating nature risks and opportunities in business and investment decisions, particularly from an Aotearoa New Zealand perspective. A place-based approach was adopted for this project, with a focus on Hawkes Bay region. There's an opportunity to integrate marine ecosystems into strategies for tackling climate and nature risks, fostering business value, implementing ecosystem-based management, and steering towards a sustainable blue economy. The Aotearoa New Zealand Climate-related Disclosure Standards, along with existing sustainability disclosure practices, provides a conducive environment for the early implementation of nature-related disclosures. However, to increase readiness for disclosure in Aotearoa New Zealand, actions are needed by different actors to support decision making – including science.
