Workshop on targets and limits with Ministry for the Environment

On 10 December, we ran a workshop with officials from the Ministry for the Environment's estuaries team on limits and targets.

The workshop involved researchers working across Sustainable Seas on projects looking at risk and uncertainty, cumulative effects and monitoring.

We presented some of the issues with setting limits for estuaries at a national level. We discussed what can be done to improve trends in the absence of complete biophysical data sets. There was particular interest and discussion on the use of Bayesian Networks as a tool to determine thresholds and buffers and how it could be used consistently on a national basis.
